The ground in a 2×2 foundation square centered on a point within range twists and sprouts hard spikes and thorns. Those within the affected area make a Dexterity saving throw. On a successful save, the targets take 2d6 damage. On a failed save, the targets take 4d6 damage and the sharp spikes cause any creature within the affected area to be afflicted with the Pained status until the end of the duration.
