Dwarves
(Link to Wikis in Race Name)
Kingdoms rich in ancient grandeur, halls carved into the roots of mountains, the echoing of picks and hammers in deep mines and blazing forges, a commitment to clan and tradition, and a burning hatred of goblins and orcs—these common threads unite all dwarves. Bold and hardy, dwarves are known as skilled warriors, miners, and workers of stone and metal. Though they stand well under 5 feet tall, dwarves are so broad and compact that they can weigh as much as a human standing nearly two feet taller. Their courage and endurance are also easily a match for any of the larger folk.
Dwarves are solid and enduring like the mountains they love, weathering the passage of centuries with stoic endurance and little change. They respect the traditions of their clans, tracing their ancestry back to the founding of their most ancient strongholds in the youth of the world, and don’t abandon those traditions lightly. Part of those traditions is devotion to the gods of the dwarves, who uphold the dwarven ideals of industrious labor, skill in battle, and devotion to the forge.

Gold Dwarf
With keen senses, deep intuition, and remarkable resilience, the gold Dwarves of Faerûn are stout, tough individuals like their shield dwarf brethren but are less off-putting and gruff in nature. Conversely, gold dwarves are often less agile than other dwarves and are distinguishable by their light brown or tanned skin, significantly darker than that of most dwarves, and their brown or hazel eyes. Gold dwarf males and some females could grow beards, which were carefully groomed and grown to great lengths.

Grey Dwarf
Tyrannical, grim, industrious, and pessimistic, the lives of the grey dwarves were bleak and brutal. Rather than a flaw, they viewed their lack of happiness as their greatest strength. The defining feature of duergar pride. Seeing themselves as the true paragons of dwarvish ideals compared to their weak and pampered kin. They were violent, sullen, and deeply cynical of others’ motives. Though their vices were many, the moral failings of the grey dwarves could be traced to three primary principles: Bottomless greed, Unceasing conflict, and Rejection of emotion.

Mountain Dwarf
Strong, hardy, and dependable, dwarves were polite, particularly to elders, and possessed a pearl of wisdom beyond that of many other races. Dwarves valued their traditions, regardless of the subrace they came from, and looked for inspiration from ancestral heroes. Dwarves were also known for their stubborn nature and cynicism, traits widespread amongst the dwarves but which contributed to and were commonly offset by their bravery and tenacity.

Jungle Dwarf
This dwarven sub-race was little-known except by those familiar with the jungles of South Faerûn. Though smaller than most other dwarves, they are sturdy and well-muscled, developing a strong resistance to heat and some diseases. They wear very little, if any, clothing, and grease their tattoo-covered, dark skin to keep away insects and make themselves slippery. Adorning themselves with carved jewelry out of bones, they often plaster themselves, skin and hair, with dried mud.
