Afflicted Story Paths

Becoming a Werewolf or a Vampire can be an exciting adventure, but also a dangerous one. Let me tell you about the three story paths you can take as an afflicted: Joining the Verdant Circle, Obsidian Chapel, or remaining Unaligned. To be afflicted is to be cursed.

  1. Verdant Circle:
    • Type: Werewolf Story Path
    • Description: The Verdant Circle is a close-knit community of werewolves who embrace the power of nature. They believe in the harmony between the human and wolf sides of themselves, and their members often gather under the light of the full moon to celebrate their wild nature. If you join the Verdant Circle, you’ll learn to harness the strength of the pack and explore the untamed beauty of the wilderness. To be a member of the Verdant Circle, a Werewolf must come to understand the balance of nature, and act accordingly. The Verdant Circle will not accept wild and untamed Werewolves, those that seek to be a part of the Verdant Circle must retain a sense of neutrality, or good, evil acts will not be tolerated. As a member of the Verdant Circle, you will also be obligated to defend the Verdant Circle should the need arise.
    • Going forward the The Verdant Circle path is a weekly roll based RP Mastery for the Lycans, you are taking the time one day a week of their choosing to try and master the ways of the Lycan. Each session is as follows:
      • Training Starts:
        • In-depth roleplay.
        • 15 mins in, Wisdom Save – DC 12
        • In-depth roleplay.
        • 30 mins in, Wisdom Save – DC 14
        • In-depth roleplay.
        • 45 mins in , Wisdom Save – DC 16
      • Wrap up the hour long RP session
    • Each Session must be given by a Master Werewolf
    • If the Lycan has failed 2 out of their 3 rolls then they fail their training and do not gain any progress along their path. If they succeed two of their Wisdom Saving throws than they are better trained to control their affliction. If successful the week long cooldown begins, if they fail they may attempt again within 3 days until they are successful which then, the week long cooldown also begins. Once completing a successful training session as a Verdant Circle Werewolf a DM ticket is opened and your progress can be shown to us via tickets of your roll and roleplay. There are also other members of the Verdant Circle in which you can roleplay with to add bonuses to your Wisdom Saving Throws, with quality roleplay during your session you can be granted a +5 bonus to your Wisdom Saving Throw for that particular session.
    • The flavor of your roleplay is decided by you! However you want to write your character’s struggles and overcoming of their affliction is entirely dependent on how you would roleplay your character and how they would handle their curse, and overcoming it.
  2. Obsidian Chapel:
    • Type: Vampire Story Path
    • Description: The Obsidian Chapel has a sect that is a mysterious and elegant group of vampires who have a deep connection to the shadows. Members of this faction are known for their sophistication and keen senses. The Obsidian Chapel values secrecy and power, and if you become part of this faction, you’ll learn the art of navigating the night, honing your vampire abilities, and delving into the enigmatic world of shadows. Vampires that choose to align with the Obsidian Chapel are destined for darkness, the Obsidian Chapel is a place for power, cruelty, and evil to flourish. The Obsidian Chapel will not accept Vampires that try to maintain good intentions, or kindness, they are a people who believe in complete dominance and control over all.
    • Going forward the The Obsidian Chapel path is a weekly roll based RP Mastery for the Vampires, you are taking the time one day a week of their choosing to try and master the ways of Vampirism. Each session is as follows:
      • Training Starts:
        • In-depth roleplay.
        • 15 mins in, Constitution Save – DC 12
        • In-depth roleplay.
        • 30 mins in, Constitution Save – DC 14
        • In-depth roleplay.
        • 45 mins in, Constitution Save – DC 16
      • Wrap up the hour long RP session
    • Each Session must be given by a Master Vampire

  3. Unaligned:
    • Type: Werewolf & Vampire Story Path
    • Description: If you’re not ready to commit to either factions of werewolves or vampires, the Unaligned path might be the perfect fit. Unaligned individuals prefer to walk their own path, making choices that suit their personal beliefs and desires. As an Unaligned afflicted, you have the freedom to explore both the world of the werewolves or vampires without being bound by their rules. This faction values independence and flexibility, allowing you to choose your destiny.

How to Join:

  • Verdant Circle: Seek out the Pack Master within the Verdant Circle, they will set you upon the path of understanding and controlling your lycanthropy.
  • Obsidian Chapel: To become a Vampire of the Obsidian Chapel, make your way to the Obsidian Chapel proper and you will be greeted; your intentions will be known upon your arrival.
  • Unaligned: Simply declare your independence and choose your own path. Unaligned individuals can explore both the path of a werewolf and vampire freely, learning of their faction as they so choose.

Remember, whether you choose the Verdant Circle, Obsidian Chapel, or remain Unaligned, the journey of an Afflicted is a constant struggle. As a cursed one, an Afflicted, your life is forever altered, should you fall to darkness or rise above your new nature, the choice is yours.
