Unique Races

((There are Races that have been pre-approved to be played.  Small summaries of each race will be next to their name.))

APPLICATIONS FOR UR RACES ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED.

Note: These race are not available until you’ve played a non-application race first. Once that has been done you can then reroll into these races.

Unique races are here to, at their core, provide and engage the community in RP.  They have been added to our cauldron of fun, and in the name of fun, these races are not more ‘OP’ or ‘Special’ than the current base ones.  When playing one of our alternative unique races below, please understand that you forgo any special racial books/perks that our base races may get.  Our Unique Races get the same Base Stats with some differences based on their racial classification.

We currently have 40+ races and some subraces within them, to choose from!  (This is a long list!)

(These races have the potential for limited slots depending on the volume of players who wish to try them out!)

Please Note:  You will see two instances of ‘Disclaimers’ on the races below.  This can affect how your gameplay goes depending on the race.  We wish to ensure our community understands from the start that certain races will not be loved and are susceptible to easy deaths.  If either of the below is not stated on the race, you can play the character as normal without these worries.

  • FULL – Other players will view your character negatively, and town authorities will not defend you.  You will be subject to full pvp cons in the hub areas.
  • REVILED – Other characters will view your character negatively, even if you present them as good-aligned.

Base Stats for Unique Races:

  • Ability Score Increases:  +1 of Choice
  • Speed:  Your base walking speed is 2 foundations
  • Languages:  +1 of Choice

~For the purposes of RPR, some races function identically to undead in our system, so they will have the ‘undead’ perk to reflect this.~

~

Large Creatures & Size Limitations:  Beyond 255 height, doorframes of a standard size can no longer be entered; to work around this for big characters, they can attempt to meet a DC 15 roll for either ATHLETICS or ACROBATICS to temporarily be able to resize to move through a door, before sizing back to whatever they were prior.

  • Contortion:
DC 15 Acrobatics roll:  The character squeezes through the opening; must be repeated any time a doorway meeting the criteria is entered (EX: they contort to enter a building, they must then make the roll to get back out or they are stuck for that turn)
  • Door-Buster:
DC 15 Athletics roll: The character busts the doorframe, does not need to be repeated and a POI must be left stating that the doorframe has been broken with standard evidence rules applying

Unique races are application-based.  When putting in your whitelist, please be sure to copy and paste the below with your answers on top of the regular whitelist format:
(Discord ready)

**Character Alignment:**  *What alignment is your character & how is it expressed?*

**Personal Bio:**  *Your character‘s backstory.*

**Historical Tendencies of This Race:** *How does the society of this race function, and what do they value?*

  • – Does your character differ from these historical tendencies, if so- how do they differ, and why do they behave differently?

**Outside Mindset toward This Race:** *How do other, more common races view this one? Are they hated, and if so– for what reasons, generally?*

**Racial Tensions:** *What races are typically viewed with contention for your race? List at least two and describe how your character personally feels about them.*

~Unique Races are currently only available to players who have already played one of our vanilla races for the default reroll period (14 days).  Your application MUST be approved before you re-roll.~

Due to the large number of Unique Races, please use the Ctrl + F feature with the list of names below for ease of viewing.

Nimblewright

Nimblewrights are oddities amongst other constructs, largely due to their innate intelligence and creativity, having been bestowed a personality upon their creation. Humanoid and lithe in their mechanical frame, Nimblewrights are typically excellent candidates for dueling, being quick and graceful upon their feet. Their energetic nature often lends them toward adopting far more chaotic personalities.

Gargoyle

Appearing much like statues of winged, demonic humanoids, Gargoyles are adept at cultivating the facade of being inanimate, lingering atop pillars and high places to peer upon all that passes below. They are cruel and cunning, delighting in the terror and pain they inflict as they surprise their victims, with some sources even claiming that this anguish is what sustains them. They are often indiscriminate about whom they work for, so long as they are bribed with the opportunity to cause even more of that pain that they crave, alongside a generous helping of treasure to covet.

Forlarren

Forlarren were a race of fey creatures that came about from devil corruption. Their fey ancestry drove forlarren to act in ways seen as self-destructive and once they reached a breaking point through such behavior the diabolical side of their personality would assert itself. Forlarren dominated by their diabolical mindset were known to be rather cunning, scheming, and vicious foes. They often sought to dominate or mislead weaker creatures. Once whatever diabolical schemes they had were foiled, a forlarren’s fey nature would reassert dominance over their mind.

Korred

Korreds, also known as the Dancing Folk, were a small race of fey with a special connection to the earth. Korreds were grey-skinned humanoids with short hairy bodies and the lower-body of a goat. Their beards and hair were incredibly long and dense, snaking out in all directions. They were rarely known to wear more than a simple pair of leather britches. It was difficult to distinguish between the two Korred sexes, as the women grew similarly large beards and manes of hair.

Quickling

Quicklings were a small speedy species of fey. Quicklings were small humanoid fey of slender build, similar in appearance to an elf, but with sharper, more feral features. They were cruel, devious, and capricious. They were also quite hyperactive, preferring not to slow down. They constantly paced and shifted in place whenever they were forced to be “stationary.” They spent most of their time performing acts of mischief on creatures slower than themselves and delighted in causing suffering, especially when the blame fell on other creatures and caused further discord.

Fey’ri

In a manner akin to the taint of tiefling’s infernal blood upon their physique, Fey’ri is warped by their demonic heritage in much the same way, albeit in a rather pronounced manner. Fey’ri appears as sun elves with a distinct demonic touch to their features, often bearing multiple arms, horns, varying numbers of wings, tails, and beyond. They value the purity of their corrupted blood, often viewing elves as lesser than themselves. Numbers of Fey’ri are few and far between, the result of nearly successful eradication of their bloodline by other elves, stoking that disdain further.

Tanarukk

Tanarukk are the result of the crossbreeding of orcs and tanar’ri demons, with the initial population having evolved so much that these half-fiends are now considered their own race, having escaped slavery by their demonic masters and establishing settlements of their own. They resemble short, stocky orcs with infernal traits that denote their heritage, such as pronounced horns and two jutting tusks that breech their lower jaw, these being far larger than those held by their orcish ancestry. They enjoy indulging in savagery and, although they are often more intelligent than the orcs they originated from, still engage in brutalizing any whom they deem weaker than themselves.

Half-Ogre

Half-ogres were the offspring of a human and an ogre. Half-ogres were not very intelligent, and they typically were greatly lacking in self-control. They tended to enjoy the simple pleasures of life—eating, drinking, and partying. Half-ogres were generally thought of as large, strong, and stupid among human civilizations, but considered exactly the opposite way by ogre tribes. They were especially not trusted by dwarves or gnomes, because of their ancestry.

Verbeeg

Verbeegs were giant-kin and were also sometimes known as human behemoths because they resembled humans more than any other giant race, but had ganglier limbs and longer faces. Verbeegs were usually evil creatures without an ethical compass. While being conniving, these giants still possessed a certain sense of honor. They often followed their own rules: never give a sucker a break, and always keep your word. Verbeegs often worded their promises and turns of phrase so they were able to get out of pledging things they did not want to follow up on.

Abeil

Abeils, also commonly known as bee people, were humanoid bee-like creatures that lived in large hive-cities. They were divided into three castes: the laboring vassals, the fighting soldiers (also known as stormwings), and the ruling queens. Abeils exhibited a mix of the features of bees and elves. Bristly fur colored in alternating bands of black and yellow covered their bodies. Their heads were elf-like, though their eyes were black and faceted, and they sported antennae. They had four-digited hands, translucent bee-like wings, and stingers.

Aquatic Elf

Aquatic elves were a subrace of elves adapted to living in and breathing water. Their thick skin gave them protection from the cold of deep water, keeping them comfortable at just above-freezing temperatures. Their fingers and toes were generally about twice as long as a human’s and had thick webbing between them. Their most distinctive feature was the gills visible in their necks and over their ribs. Aquatic elves were isolationist by both their nature and the physical location of their settlements. However, despite being extremely cautious, they were also extremely curious, and aquatic elves near the shore would often spend a significant amount time secretly observing the land-bound races.

Bugbear

Bugbears resembled hairy, tall, feral goblins. They took their name from their noses and claws, which were similar to those of bears. Bugbears, like other goblinoids, had a reputation for being dim-witted and brutish. This claim was not unfounded, and like their kin, bugbears had easily provoked tempers and were prone to rages. Few bugbears overcame this flaw and their culture’s brutal nature.

Gnoll

Gnolls were a humanoid race that most closely resembled human-hyena hybrids within Faerûn. They were carnivorous humanoids, known for their savage culture and warlike ways. More so than many other humanoid races, primal instinct was a strong part of the gnoll psyche. Gnolls were natural predators and savored the thrills of the hunt. Almost all gnolls preferred the wilderness to the civilized enclaves favored by humans, dwarves, or other similar races and those that do take to cities have usually thought of them as just another kind of landscape.

Despite this desire for balance, centaurs had to eat a lot to fuel their large bodies and were known to overindulge, especially in wine and ale. A drunken centaur was much more prone to aggressive and violent behavior. Although some were solitary, centaurs generally lived in tribal hunter-gatherer societies. Those that felt a sense of wanderlust to explore the world made excellent companions and occasionally would offer a ride to allies. The suggestion that they be used as a pack animal however was met with derision.

Pterafolk appeared much like a tailless lizardfolk aside from their elongated cranial crest and long, lithe frames. Many also possessed beaks full of serrated teeth, and they possessed the innate ability to magically unfurl a pair of massive wings from their arms.

Tlincalli

Tlincallis were terrifying monstrous humanoids with the lower bodies of giant scorpions. Instead of true chitin, their insectoid lower halves were constructed of bone plates, and their humanoid upper bodies held a handsome visage aside from their insectoid eyes and other scattered arthropod features. Their predatory nature shines through in their behavior and society, their demeanor calm and observant as they study those they meet in a manner not unlike a hunter. Their societies are heavily organized around their belief in omens and divination, and aside from their tendency to take other races as slaves, their behavior is stark in its detached and confident nature.

Yak-Folk

Yak-folk were ogre-sized humanoids. Their heads resembled those of a yak and their bodies were covered in coarse fur. The only distinguishing feature between females and males was that the females were only slightly smaller. As a race, the yak-folk were a ‘malignant theocracy’, fanatically following their Forgotten God in all aspects of their lives. The entire race claimed to be descended from this deity. They were known to sacrifice slaves to appease this Forgotten God.

Death Knight

A death knight was a mighty undead warrior created by gods of death or other malevolent forces. They were most commonly created from evil humanoids who in life had been blackguards, fighters, rangers, barbarians, and even paladins fallen from grace. A death knight appeared similar to how it appeared in life, but it had a decayed body with rotting flesh and pinpoints of light in place of eyes. A death knight often wore fine clothing and armor, especially capes, as a mark of importance. A death knight struck fear into the hearts of weaker creatures.

Kir-Lanan

Kir-lanan, also known as black gargoyles, stalkers, and the godless, were gargoyle-like creatures that appeared on Toril during the Time of Troubles in 1358 DR. Appearing similar to the more common gargoyle, kir-lanan had huge bat-like wings and a muscular humanoid form that was covered in fine scales. Since their arrival in 1358 DR, the kir-lanan held an unrelenting enmity towards all deities. This dislike of the gods was such that the kir-lanan never worshiped any of them and consequently never made use of divine magic.

Wight

A wight is an undead creature reanimated through its sheer violence and hatred, arising again after having either been transformed by another wight, or after having stricken a deal with an evil deity to return to some semblance of life in exchange for seeking the destruction of all living things. Withered, twisted husks of their former selves, Wights are a grotesque sight that, in their reanimated state, crave the lifeforce of others in a manner akin to an addiction. They instinctively dislike sunlight, yet they are not harmed by it. Wights in these lands appear unable to drain an individual to the point of becoming a wight themselves.
